Codec, a Dublin-based IT solutions consulting company is investing over £1.7million to expand its Belfast centre with 20 new jobs, as part of plans to increase exports.

The company specialises in end-to-end IT infrastructure and technology solutions. It provides companies with a ‘full-stack’ integrated platform of infrastructure hardware, software and database solutions to ensure business IT operations run effectively.

George McKinney, Director of Technology & Services, Invest Northern Ireland, welcomed the expansion:

“This significant reinvestment by Codec is great news as we rebuild the local economy post-COVID. Invest NI has worked with the company since 2016, when we supported its first investment in Northern Ireland and this new investment will see Codec more than double its workforce in Belfast. I am delighted that we have been able to continue supporting the firm and offer strategic advice tailored for the company’s growth plan.

“Over 70% of new investors reinvest in Northern Ireland, which is testament to the excellence and resilience of our local talent. The digital sector will be a major driver in the recovery of the economy and the additional annual salaries of £900,000 are a welcome contribution towards this. With our support, Codec will be able to increase its capabilities, remain competitive in the high-tech sector, and break into new international markets.”

Invest NI has offered the company £125,000 of support towards the creation of the 20 new jobs.

John Molloy, Codec’s Northern Ireland Commercial Lead, said:

“We have shown a real resilience throughout the pandemic and have readily adapted our technology and ways of working to ensure our continued growth.

“Our Belfast office is crucial to our sustained growth and the new team members will be at the forefront of delivering our global business strategy. By growing our workforce, we will add to our expertise and knowledge of analytics, cloud and mobile technology, so that we can expand our customer offering. This will enable us to increase our export success in Great Britain, Germany and the Nordics.

“Invest NI has been a valuable source of advice and support during our time in Northern Ireland. The high level of skills and talent we have secured since we established here was key in our decision to expand our global business from Belfast.”

Recruitment has begun, with a range of roles including Project Managers, IT Services Consultants and Technical Support.
