Pinpoint Ltd, the leading provider of staff safety systems for healthcare settings across Ireland and Northern Ireland, has announced an upgrade to its life-saving technology.

Designed to address increasing rates of violence toward hospital workers,

Pinpoint’s security systems allow staff at risk of abuse to summon assistance quickly and discreetly. Within 85 milliseconds of activating a concealed body-worn alarm, a response team is alerted to the exact location and nature of the call.

Now combining three decades of experience with enhanced functionality and design, Pinpoint has now released the updated P2 System to Ireland’s hospitals and healthcare settings.

The launch of P2 comes at a particularly challenging time for Ireland’s healthcare workers, with the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) recording 10 attacks on nurses each day. In January 2023 it was reported that 5,582 assaults against staff across HSE were recorded in the year to October. Long waiting times, overcrowding and staff shortages are linked to this heightened aggression.

Allan Aikman, Product Manager, has said

“P2 is the next generation of our tried and tested security alarms systems. Users can benefit from the same high-performance security, with an improved design that feels less clinical and withstands tampering and vandalism. The products are more accessible and user-friendly – which is crucial for staff managing unpredictable, violent behaviour.”

Daniel Waring, CEO of Pinpoint Ltd, agreed

“Over the last 30 years, we have continued to develop and enhance our systems to ensure we deliver the very best results for the workers who need it most. I am incredibly proud to be able to launch P2 on our 30th anniversary.”

Maria Donnellan, Clinical Nurse Manager 3 at St. Brigid’s Hospital where Pinpoint’s systems are installed, has said:

“With Pinpoint’s staff safety systems installed, staff are reassured of their safety at work and know they can call for help in the event of any emergency.”
